“ This was my first time visiting Sophie's BBQ and I will definitely be coming back! My family and I were attending the A.J. Brown signing event at a nearby business and my husband wanted to give Sophie's BBQ a try for lunch. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we were immediately seated. My husband had a cup of the French Onion soup while waiting for me and our son to join him. Hubby said it was the best French Onion soup he's had in a long time! To start out, we ordered the Butterscotch Swirl Cornbread Basket which came with the most delicious homemade apple butter spread on the side! The apple butter was so good that we asked if they sell it packaged for takeout. Our server said no, but went to see if there was enough available to give us some to take home. She returned with a pint-sized container filled with freshly made aplle butter that had just come off the stove! One thing I want to say, we received EXCELLENT service! Our server was very helpful with suggestions and explaining the menu options to us. For our main course, my husband and I shared a BBQ Platter with 1/2 pound pulled pork shoulder, BBQ beans, & baked mac & cheese. We also shared the Coffee-Rubbed Brisket. My son had the Smoked Duck Sandwich with fries. We shared an order of the Sweet Potato Hush Puppies which were delicious! The brisket was so good! Just the right amount of smoked meat, and the homemade sweet pickles on the side were a great compliment. For dessert we had these Banana Creme Filled Donut pastry puffs with a raspberry dipping sauce. So good!!! Throughout our meal I had 2 of the Smoky Orchard Margaritas from their hand-crafted cocktail menu. It was a very good and not overly strong. A perfect lunchtime cocktail. I would definitely recommend Sophie's BBQ to anyone considering a visit. Our total bill came to 173, but we left with enough leftovers for the weekend. Excellent service. ”
“ Sophie’s BBQ is hands down one of the best barbecue spots I’ve had in years. I ordered the full rack of dry BBQ ribs and the dry brisket—both were incredibly flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. The sweet potato hush puppies were a standout side—crispy, sweet, and absolutely delicious. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience feel welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend this spot to any BBQ lover! ”
“ Came here twice now for a birthday dinner with my family. Delicious food in large portions. I got the barbecue sandwich with pork belly burnt ends, and a vapor wave IPA. The alcohol was OK, but the food as before was great. The pork belly burnt ends was soft and sweet. Also was not expecting that size of a side of fries but it was 100% worth it. We also shared a BBQ Blooming Onion which was better than Outback’s or Texas Roadhouse’s in my opinion. Definitely come to Sophie’s for some good home made bbq. ”
“ The BEST bbq I’ve had in a long time!! Celebrated a friends birthday and we had been hoping to visit this place for a while and it did NOT disappoint. We all ordered something different and equally loved our meals. Did not get drinks this go around but will absolutely be back. I will say, our server was a bit rude to my friend multiple times (mind you she’s a quiet, polite person by nature) but besides that, amazing experience and food. 10/10. ”
“ Our first time here and we will be back. Excellent Dinner on a Thursday Night, we were greeted by our very friendly waitress Devon. She informed us kids eat free on Thursday as a heads up that the restaurant gets pretty busy throughout the night. I had the BBQ platter, ribs were falling off the bone delicious! My friend had the Duck Cubano Special which he says is his new favorite sandwich incorporating two of his favorite foods. He’s obsessed! ”
“ This place is the real deal. We had the chicken, pulled pork, and burnt ends. All were delicious and had Kansas City flavor. The brisket was not ready yet, so cannot speak to the quality there, but all signs would lead me to think the brisket is good. Don’t miss out of the cornbread! ”
“ It was a last-minute decision to dine her, and we're so glad we did. My husband LOVES BBQ, and he can't wait to come back. I decided to enjoy BBQ sides as my dinner. The BRISKET sandwich was HUGE and loaded with meat, sauce, and coleslaw. The side of thin fries was perfectly fried and salty. My collard greens were AMAZING! It had a lovely bite, and the flavor profile was so complementary to the beef. I also ordered the baked beans and coleslaw. My beans were underdone, and personally, they were too sweet. I like a more balance of sweet to savory. The coleslaw needed a little more vinegar, but I grew up from Texas, so..... after having a discussion with the chef, I have to say that the sides were pretty delicious in their uniqueness. My Texan background does get in the way. The fall cocktails were nice. I no longer love sweet cocktails so I will stick to ordering the canned drinks they offer a well. The cornbread was my favorite. I had so much to take home. It was sweet with a lovely flaky salt on top with a side of applesauce and whipped butter. Can't wait to go back! ”
“ So thankful to find this Havertown hidden gem. The duck is spectacular and a must try. I personally loved the corn bread with the sweet chi butter. Also the greens were great in texture and saltiness. Brisket was tender and chicken had a legendary rub. Sauces were tasty enough to ask for a to-go refill for my leftovers. The drinks were light and refreshing, and the servers were super friendly and attentive. I always appreciate meeting the chef and getting to try something delicious off menu, like the hot honey peach margarita. ”
